Why Great Pack

A machine is only as good as the selection behind it.

Most packaging projects go wrong before the quotation is written, because a machine was chosen for its price rather than for the product it has to run. These three things are what we do about that.

Engineering-led selection

Machine platform, dosing method and tooling are matched to your product, bag and film before a price is discussed. Special bag, film or speed requirements are reviewed by engineering first.

Built and tested in our own factory

Frame fabrication, mechanical and electrical assembly, forming sets and controls in our own workshops, then an internal continuous run test with film before the machine is released.

Support that outlives the order

Remote diagnosis, on-site commissioning, operator training and spare parts identified against your machine record for as long as you run it.

Our packaging machines

Six platforms cover most of the work.

Which one fits your project is decided by the product, the bag and the speed your line has to hold — so the cards below describe capability, not a model number to order in a shop.

VFFS Machines

Vertical form-fill-seal machines for powders, granules and solids.

Pillow, gusset and flat-bottom bags

Stick Pack Machines

Multi-lane stick packaging for powder, granule and liquid products.

Single-serve sticks and tube packs

Sachet Machines

Three- and four-side seal sachet packaging systems.

Small fill weights, multi-lane output

Flow Wrappers

Horizontal flow wrapping for bars, bakery and regular-shaped products.

Infeed, wrapping head and discharge

Filling Systems

Auger, weigher, volumetric and pump-based filling systems.

Matched to how your product flows

Integrated Lines

Integrated feeding, packaging, inspection, cartoning and case packing.

Send your six parameters

Company

A manufacturer, not a trading office.

Great Pack builds VFFS machines, stick pack machines, sachet packing machines, flow wrappers, filling systems and integrated packaging lines for food manufacturers, contract packers, machinery distributors and system integrators that need application-specific equipment rather than a one-size-fits-all machine. Core packaging equipment is produced in our own workshops; where a project needs equipment we do not build, it comes from a partner supplier — but the interfaces, the timing and the responsibility for the whole unit stay with us.

You do not need to know the machine model first.

Start with the packaging task. We can work backward from your product, pack format, output and production environment.

The six inputs

What we need before we can recommend a machine.

Everything else in the quotation follows from these six answers. If you have a sample bag, a photo or the film specification, send those too.

  1. Product

Powder, granule, liquid, paste or solid piece — flow behaviour, dust and bulk density decide the dosing method.

  2. Fill weight

The weight or volume per bag, which sets the dosing range, the accuracy target and the size of the machine.

  3. Bag format

Pillow, gusset, flat bottom, fin seal, stick pack or sachet. The bag form decides the forming set and the sealing arrangement.

  4. Bag dimensions

Flat width and length. The parameter most often estimated wrongly, and the machine is only as right as these numbers.

  5. Film structure

Laminated, PE, paper laminate or mono-material, which affects the sealing window, film pulling and achievable speed.

  6. Target speed

The bags per minute your production has to hold — not the maximum in a brochure. The slowest element sets the real rate.

What information is required to select a packaging machine?

The basic information needed for an accurate first recommendation is: product type, target fill weight, bag format, bag dimensions, film structure and target operating speed. These six inputs determine the initial machine platform, filling method and technical risk level.

Complete systems

One packaging unit, engineered as one system.

When the application needs more than a bagger, dosing, feeding, discharge, inspection and downstream automation are coordinated so that interfaces and speeds are settled on paper instead of on your factory floor.

  1. Feeding

    Product infeed

  2. Dosing

    Auger / weigher / pump

  3. Primary pack

    VFFS / stick / sachet

  4. Inspection

    Weight / metal / vision

  5. Cartoning

    Secondary packaging

  6. Case pack

    End of line

What is the difference between a single machine, a complete packaging unit and an integrated packaging line?

A single machine performs one packaging function. A complete packaging unit combines the primary packaging machine with dosing and the necessary feeding or discharge equipment. An integrated packaging line extends further into inspection, cartoning, case packing or other downstream automation, with interfaces and line speed coordinated as one project.

Plan a packaging system

Package formats

The bag decides as much as the machine does.

Bag geometry, seal arrangement and film structure change forming, sealing, speed and changeover — which is why the package belongs near the beginning of the project, not at the end of it.

Pillow bag Fin seal down the back. The widest bag range and the most common format for food.
Gusset bag Side folds give the pack volume and shelf presence without a wider roll.
Flat bottom bag A formed base so the filled bag stands on the shelf.
Stick pack Narrow single-serve strips, run several lanes at a time.
Sachet Three- or four-side seal packs for small fill weights.

Why does bag format matter when selecting a VFFS machine?

Bag format changes the forming geometry, seal arrangement, film path, changeover method and achievable speed. Pillow bags, gusset bags, flat-bottom bags, sticks and sachets therefore cannot always be treated as interchangeable formats on the same machine structure.

Application expertise

Powder is not one material.

Flowability, density, dust, aeration and fill weight all affect dosing and sealing, so the filler and the bagger have to be considered as one decision rather than two purchases.

  1. Auger configuration matched to how the product actually flows
  2. Dust and seal-area control around the forming tube
  3. Stable filling at the operating speed agreed for the project
  4. Film and sealing settings validated with your own material

Which filling system is normally used for powder packaging?

Powders are commonly filled with an auger filler, but the correct screw design, agitation, hopper arrangement and speed depend on flowability, bulk density, dust level, aeration and target fill weight. The filler and bagger should therefore be selected together.

Industries

Built for production environments with different priorities.

A contract packer changing format three times a day and a coffee plant running one format all year need different answers from the same machine platform.

  • Food Powders & ingredients
  • Food Snacks & nuts
  • Beverage Coffee & drink mixes
  • Food Seasonings & sugar
  • Production Contract packaging
  • Food Pet food
  • Consumer Confectionery
  • Other Non-food applications

Applications

The best proof is a machine running something close to your product.

A case should show the conditions that decide the machine: product, format, film, dosing method, the basis of the speed figure and how the result was validated.

A representative project structure: a powder application using an auger filler and a fin-seal bag format. Final machine selection and the guaranteed speed always depend on the customer’s actual product, film, bag dimensions and test conditions.

Film Project-dependent laminate
Speed basis Confirmed on actual project conditions
Validation Internal run test + video or on-site FAT

Engineering

Protect the parts that decide whether production is stable.

Forming, film handling, sealing, dosing and controls decide what the machine can hold in daily production. Core configuration is selected for the application rather than reduced to lower the purchase price.

What determines the actual speed of a VFFS machine?

Actual operating speed depends on bag size, bag format, product behavior, fill weight, filling-system speed, film structure, sealing dwell time and any additional operations such as coding, gas flushing or downstream handling. The slowest element in the complete system sets the real production rate.

Project execution

Six stages, each confirmed before the next begins.

Decisions taken before the order stay visible through manufacturing and delivery, because every stage ends with a confirmation rather than a promise.

  1. Application

Product, bag, film and speed are reviewed as one set of requirements.

  2. Selection

Machine platform, dosing method and the technical risk points.

  3. Engineering

Drawings, interfaces and the configuration that will be built.

  4. Build

Frame, assembly, forming sets and controls in our workshops.

  5. Run test & FAT

Internal continuous run test, then acceptance by video or on site.

  6. Production

Export packing, installation, commissioning and after-sales support.

Manufacturing & FAT

Build quality is visible before shipment.

Not a factory-photo gallery: the sequence below is how a machine is built, and how its performance is checked before it is released for delivery.

  1. Frame fabrication and mechanical assembly
  2. Electrical assembly and controls
  3. Forming set production
  4. Internal running test
  5. Video or on-site factory acceptance test

What should a packaging-machine FAT confirm?

FAT should confirm the agreed technical parameters, package appearance, sealing quality, actual operating speed, continuous-run stability and any project-specific acceptance conditions. If a new requirement appears during FAT, it should first be checked against the original confirmed scope.

Common questions

Questions buyers ask before a project moves forward.

If your question is not answered here, send it together with your application details and the engineering team will answer it directly.

A vertical form fill seal (VFFS) machine forms a bag from rollstock film, fills the product vertically and seals the finished package in one automated process. It is commonly used for powders, granules, snacks, coffee, seasonings and many other packaged products.

Start with the product, fill weight, bag format, bag dimensions, film structure and target operating speed. These factors determine the required machine size, motion type, filling system and sealing configuration.

Actual speed depends on bag length and format, product behavior, fill weight, dosing speed, film, sealing dwell time and any additional operations. The complete system should be evaluated under the real application conditions rather than by theoretical maximum speed alone.

Powders are commonly dosed with an auger filler. The screw, hopper, agitation and operating settings should be selected according to flowability, bulk density, dust, aeration and target weight.

Usually yes, within the mechanical range of the selected machine. Different bag widths, forming sets and product conditions may require change parts or different forming sets, and the achievable speed can vary by format.

They can, but mono-material PE and other sustainable films often have a narrower sealing window and different stretch, friction and heat behavior than conventional laminates. High-risk applications should be tested with the actual film before final performance is confirmed.

The basic six items are product type, target fill weight, bag format, bag dimensions, film structure and target operating speed. A sample bag, photo or drawing improves accuracy.

Yes, when a project includes unusual product behavior, film, bag geometry, speed or another technical uncertainty. The purpose of the test is to verify specific risks; it does not automatically represent full-machine acceptance.

Yes. Core packaging equipment can be integrated with dosing, feeding, inspection, cartoning, case packing and other downstream systems, with Great Pack acting as the main coordination point for the packaging project.

Every machine is internally run and tested. Customer confirmation can be completed by test video or on-site FAT depending on project complexity and the agreed acceptance method.

Yes. Standard machines can often be installed with remote support, while complex projects or customers requiring field support can be handled with on-site engineering assistance.

A change affecting bag format, speed, structure, interfaces, price or delivery time should be treated as an order change. Technical, cost and schedule impact should be reviewed and confirmed before execution.

Tell us what you need to pack.

Product, fill weight, bag format, bag dimensions, film and target speed — those six are enough for a first recommendation. A sample bag or the film specification makes the answer more exact.
